community

My family is split up right now. Half is in Houston the other half is in the Dallas area. Because of life, bills, and obligations we all can't be together. This is left me with some hard times. However, it has left me to find strength not in myself, for I have none, but in the community, the people of God. No, I don't know anyone from my church, but those I have found myself living around this past year. If I am honest, I haven't heard from God, it seems he is miles away, however His people are very near. They have appeared sometimes in email. They have appeared sometimes by voice only. They have appeared through text. They have offered a hug, a beer, a prayer, a game of poker, a truck to help with my dad's company, a tear, a ear, and even a grade of "B" (namely, Dr. Marshall, Chemistry Prof). They have asked questions, they have wanted to engage in my pain, and even my Dad's pain. They, YOU, have been a people of God. Sometimes they don't know they are performing Holy acts of God, and sometimes they do. This, my friend, is the community of God, the church on a heavenly mission, as God told Abraham, "...to become a blessing to the whole world, to the Ray family."
