Read Genesis 32
I don't know what your personal feelings about this text is, but I have to say it is very odd. However, it does paint the story of Jacob-- always struggling for blessings, with man and God. Jacob was full of fear that his brother was out to get him for taking his family blessings. The schemer, Jacob, flew into action mounting up gifts for his brother in oder to save his life. After all the gifts and stuff he had acquired had been offered, Jacob was left with a prayer for God to remember the promises he had made with Jacob. Night grew close. Jacob isolated himself. Can you picture the distress Jacob was in that night. Full of fear that his brother was going to kill him. He replayed the memories of how he stole his brothers blessings over and over again in his mind. He was terrified.
Jacob wrestled with God until he "blessed" him. Little did Jacob know, the blessing was coming, God had not forgotten Jacob.
Me and Jacob, in many of ways, we are a lot alike.
