I just started reading A new Kind of Christian, for the third time. I am reading Mclaren's book this time because a friend of mine, who is employed by a Baptist church wanted to start an accountability group on Tuesday mornings. I am very excited to see what questions and dialogue that will arise from our reading ANKOC. Our First meeting was last week, we started off with some complaints about the 'Emerging Church.' He said, "There just seems to be a lack of respect for the 'Facts' the Bible offers to the Church, concerning the Faith." I agreed with him and followed it with a statement like, "Its true that the "Facts" are brought under question, But what does the questioning offer the Church? Does this dialogue strengthen or weaken the faith? Maybe it does both? Just maybe it weakens, our personal faith for period of time in order to strengthen the "Facts". Can't wait to see the path we travel!
P.S. Does the Bible offer Facts?
