"My faith has plenty of room for science, and my science only strengthens my faith..." Neo, from ANKOC.
This is the first major statement that Mclaren points out. Just like the ancient Greeks, Mclaren uses dialogue to hit deep issues, that at first glance are superficial. This is true for myself as well, the more I learn about science, the more I see the beauty of the Creator.
As you may Know, I am attending the University of North Texas working on my Biology Degree. As I sit in my classes I try and separate myself from my 'Christian' world view and try and see all the lesson from a 'normal' world view. However, its not long before I sense the order of creation and the overwhelming beauty that causes me to stop and meditate. As I look at the Periodic table, I can't help but imagine that I am looking at the finger print of God, or work with calculus and see the magic that numbers bring to life. Then there is evolution, either way it happens, life gives birth to life and I get to study the paint strokes of an amazing painter.
Truly, my faith leads to science which in turn leads to faith. Not a faith that pulls out the sinners and separates from the unholy, but a faith that is mystified with beauty. A faith that always allows questions and doubts in order to see the error, to test the theories, and never come to a conclusion where thinking stops. A faith that always evolves. Truly my life is one that is lived in the middle of knowing and always seeking, pursing yet satisfied. A sort of living faith.
