The mystery of life is key to the building our faith. I ask the question, "How would you gauge your faith?"
I guess the answer depends on what chapter of life you find yourself. Three years ago, my answer would be completely different than it is today. In life, the waters flow down a steady stream, at times the waters are relaxing and peaceful and at any moment the still waters can become violent and adventurous. Is our faith only strong when the waters are still requiring only little of us? Is our faith weak only during the raging rapids?
Let us get beyond the lies of western churchy mind set that seems to think no matter where we find our raft, we have a smile on our face and always singing Holy, Holy, Holy. If we are really honest with ourselves, there are many times when we look at our life and think, "There is no way I am going to do this..." How do we gauge our faith?
Maybe faith is holding on with all our might during the rough parts, screaming, and at times dropping the "F" bomb, then afterwards looking back and saying, "How in the Hell did I make it through?" Then, you realize the aches of your muscles, the bruises on your hands and the heat from the sunburn and proclaim simply, boldly, humbly: Holy, Holy, Holy (Where the hell were you?) is the Lord God Almighty.
Faith sneaks in, under the radar and catches us at just the right moment.
Its mysterious. Its captivating. Its moving..
