"By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you... [We do not] live by the standards fo this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight are not the weapons of the world. On the contray, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up agains the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ~ Paul, the apostle
I have been thinking much about spiritual battles and all the evil that I constantly dance with. This afternoon I started think about how I try to fight this battle with anger being the source of power and triumph. Just today, I was thinking the "quiet revolution", to borrow from Brian Mclaren, of how we are to overcome evil with good, anger with love, despair with hope and lies with truth.
I then realized I am trying to fight this "battle" with doing the right things or using my own "power" over the evil one. I have had it all wrong. My battle is much more sublime than rough, tough warfare. My battle is in the little things. My fight, is to give freely in love. I push back darkness of despair by serving those in need. My goal is to love those that hate, bring peace to those that fight, and be a voice for those that have no voice.
With every day I am becoming more and more convienced that the Gospel Message, from the start is packed with Political ramifications. The Jews were awaiting the Great Warrior to knock out the powerful Romans and set up an earthly kingdom. The King did come, but instead of wiping out the Romans and killing them, he was killed by the Romans.
The Gospel, the Kingdom of Heaven, is built on the unexpected.
Bring the Kingdom.
Speak Faith to those areas of your life that seem hopeless.
